With loudspeakers mounted to their minarets, fifty-five imams of fifty-five mosques broadcast the evening call to prayer over the ancient, walled city of San‘a’, capital of Yemen.
Their voices reverberate through the narrow streets, fall into and out of accidental harmonies, and continue well beyond the timespan of this recording.
