A short loop of birds soaring across the frame is rear-projected through a screen of vellum suspended in a hole in the ceiling. With the projector churning away out of earshot and sight, as well as its seemingly impossible position (the image being reflected by a mirror), a small mystery of the image's source lends itself to the experience of watching birds fly.
Not knowing where the projected image originates is meant as a little analogy to observing a bird's flight or anything else in the visible world without the matters that surround, adjoin or explain their existence. This ability is, at times, fundamental to watching a moving image and the real world alike.
